TAL has opened applications for its 2025 graduate program, offering 11 placements in departments ranging from data science and product design to actuarial science and allied health.

Paola Molino, general manager for people & culture at TAL, said the program takes a personalised approach.

“Although we’re Australia’s largest life insurer, the size of our program ensures each graduate benefits from time with senior leaders and individually-tailored support to ensure they grow as professionals,” she said.

Molino added that TAL – which also recently launched its second annual Ethics Month –  is looking for graduates passionate about making a difference and who are curious and keen on problem-solving.

“A career in life insurance is diverse, exciting, and has true purpose, supporting and helping customers through their most challenging times. Some graduates are surprised by the range of opportunities available at TAL, and the innovative thinking we employ to support a sustainable, thriving life insurance sector,” she said. “Beyond great grades, we seek out candidates who want to make a positive difference in people’s lives and have a genuine curiosity and a fresh approach to problem-solving. These qualities are key to improving the experience and outcomes of our five million customers.”

Features of the 2025 TAL Graduate Program

In the 2025 intake, the program features four technology-focused roles.

Sajeewa Arachchillage, head of digital engineering at TAL, said the program offers graduates a chance to work on unexpected projects.

“We are an early adopter of new technologies – including Generative AI – because we see them as key to improving how our teams can support our customers, and make it easier for customers to interact with us,” he said. “TAL’s investment in technology means we work closely with our technology partners to gain early access to new programs, and can also provide hands-on experience in disciplines including digital engineering, digital innovation, and product management.”

The two-year program, beginning in February 2025, offers structured learning and practical experience in key business segments like actuarial, finance, group life and retirement, individual life, and technology. Participants will complete four rotations, three in their primary discipline and one in another department.

The application window opened yesterday, May 8, 2024 – with a launch event at TAL’s Sydney headquarters. The deadline for applications is May 29, 2024.
