Global specialist risks re/insurance broker MNK Re has named Giles Ham (pictured above) as associate director – surety, as the firm aims to bolster its international footprint in the surety market, particularly in securing coverage for challenging and hard-to-place risks globally.

With more than three decades of experience in the surety industry, Ham has a vast background in providing bond solutions for major civil infrastructure projects, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston, Massachusetts.

His expertise extends to working with a diverse range of brokers internationally, positioning him to significantly enhance MNK Re’s client base, particularly among overseas clients seeking to leverage specialist capacity in London.

Manoj Kumar, CEO of MNK Re Group, highlighted the significance of Ham’s appointment as the firm seeks further expansion.

“Giles brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, so we’re delighted to welcome him to MNK Re. His appointment is an important step as we continue our rapid international expansion and build our book of business in the surety market. He has a track record of delivering for his clients and I’ve no doubt that MNK Re will benefit enormously from his understanding of the market and specialist insight,” he said.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Ham also noted the current state of the surety market and what his appointment represents for MNK Re.

“I’m looking forward to using my network and knowledge of the market to help clients find the solutions they need. Governments and businesses across the world are seeking to develop increasingly complex infrastructure projects in response to issues like climate change. I’m excited to work with Manoj and the team to help them access bespoke coverage that can provide protection required by employers,” he said.
